Shamba Yetu is a bird watching paradise. The garden and area host a wide variety of bird species. With your binoculars in hand you can observe many different birds listening to the sounds of nature.

The best way to experience the bush is on foot and also is the best way to get close to nature and the wild life.
Guests can enjoy the Fort Trail. This circular trail leads through the bush to an historical fort built by Boer soldiers during the Anglo Boer War.
The trail is marked and well managed. Guests can also enjoy an informative and interactive walk with a guide, including snacks/boerewors braai with beverages, which await Guests at the Fort.
Take note that guided walks and snacks will not always be available and will always be subject to weather conditions. Please check with lodge upon arrival.
Guests can enjoy and experience the wonders of the sky. The raised stargazing platform is a perfect place to marvel at the night sky.
Bring along your own telescope OR this fascinating experience can be facilitated by the owner with a Celestron Telescope.
Stargazing is dependent on weather conditions and visibility of the different constellations. Therefore, this activity can only take place when booked with the lodge.

If you just want to relax, watch the sun set over the hills, sip your cocktails and catch the last rays of the day, then the Sundowner Deck is the perfect spot.
Let us cater and do a picnic setup at the river or in the bush. Please place your picnic order.

The area can be explored by mountain bike. Take the farm roads for a lovely leisurely bike ride and enjoy alongside game in the gentler plains. Alternatively, for those who are fit, you can cycle in a more challenging terrain. Bring your bicycles along and explore the area.
The Cradle of Humankind, one of eight World Heritage Sites in South Africa, and the only one in Gauteng, is renowned as the place where humankind originated. It is here that the first hominid, Australopithecus, was found in 1924 at Taung in the North West Province by Professor Raymond Dart of the University of the Witwatersrand, and is one of the major tourist attractions in South Africa.
The official visitor centers for the Cradle of Humankind, Maropeng and the Sterkfontein Caves, are within an easy 45 minute drive from the lodge.
Explore Harties's tourist attractions, activities and the many things to do in Hartbeespoort - from extreme adventure activities to milder family orientated activities, approximately 60 minute drive from the lodge.
The Harties Cableway offers visitors to our area, panoramic views of the beautiful Magaliesberg, Hartbeespoort Dam and surrounding areas.
Visitors are taken on a journey into the world of the African elephant and are guided through an unforgettable experience with these magnificent creatures.
Visitors are able to touch, feed and get to know these animals.
The Elephant Sanctuary is unique in that it offers visitors the incredible opportunity to walk hand-in-trunk with the elephants, approximately 60 minute drive from the lodge.
The Magaliesberg Canopy Tour is located in the Magaliesberg Biosphere Reserve.
Eleven platforms have been built against the cliff and rock faces of the spectacular Ysterhout Kloof, a beautiful gorge carved out of the mountainside, and are joined by long steel cables that you slide along to reach the next platform. Much like a “foefie” slide, the canopy tour essentially involves zigzagging down the kloof while stopping at each platform to admire the expansive views and surrounding ecology, approximately 30 minutes drive from the lodge.
Enjoy ice cream tasting at the factory in Magaliesburg a 20-minute drive from the lodge. Tasting takes place on Saturdays only from 9h00 to 12h30.
Set against a serious chunk of the Magalies mountain range, not to mention overlooking the dam, Brauhaus am Damm is a German brewery and restaurant, approximately 15-minute drive from the lodge.
Black Horse Estate offers an artisanal craft brewery, distillery and restaurant located by the Magalies river with green fields and majestic black horses, approximately 20-minute drive from the lodge.
Balloon Safaris and Balloon Rides with Bill Harrop, approximately 40 minute drive from the lodge.
